God is More Powerful than Your Pain

Matthew 19:16-26 in the King James Version reads:

❝¹⁶And behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? ¹⁷And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. ¹⁸He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, ¹⁹Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

²⁰The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? ²¹Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. ²²But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. ²³Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

²⁴And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. ²⁵When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? ²⁶But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.❞

This is the story about the rich young ruler (also referenced in Mark 10:17-27 and Luke 18:18-27) who when told by Yahshua (Jesus) that he had to give up his possessions to follow the Messiah, he chose his possessions over salvation.

You may thinking, "What does this story have to do with pain?" I'm glad you asked. Here's how...The young man in this story was so attached to his worldly possessions, he couldn't accept the blood-bought gift of salvation that would have set him free from the eternal bondage of a life void of relationship with Christ. Perhaps this man had been rich for a long time. His riches were familiar to him. He didn't know who he was without his riches. He would rather continue on in the life he had become comfortable with than choose the freedom and newness of life that comes with walking with Yahshua the Messiah.

God is More Powerful than Your Heavy Burden

Much like this rich young man in the story, you too may be so attached to your pain because you've been in pain for a long time. Your pain may be very familiar to you. You may not know who you are apart from your pain.

Your pain may have, ironically, become comfortable to you. So you would rather hold on to the pain that you know instead of letting go of your pain to embrace the freedom and newness of life that comes with walking with Yahshua the Messiah.

But how long friend? How long do you think you can hold on to your pain? Do you have another year, two years, five years, or even 10 years to stay attached to your pain?

Is your pain so precious to you that you would rather keep it close to your heart just as how the rich ruler kept his possessions close to his heart and rejected the love of Christ? Or is it that you don't trust the Messiah with your heart, which is your soul?

Let me tell you friend, Yahshua the Messiah created you to be a living soul—for in Yahshua, all things are held together. (Colassians 1:17). Your very being is held together by the Word, which is Yahshua himself. So surely the Creator of your being knows and can feel all the pain you're going through. Surely the Creator of your being knows what it takes to heal the inner most parts of you. Surely the Creator of your being is more powerful than your pain. But He only requires one thing from you to heal you, and that is your permission.

Yahshua stands at the door and knocks. If you hear His voice and open the door, He will come in to you and sup with you, and you with him. (Revelation 3:20).

So will you get up and open the door to Yahshua, friend? Will you sup with Christ? Will you allow Him to heal your pain?

God is more powerful than your pain. On your own, it is impossible to break free from the stronghold of pain. But with Yahshua the Messiah, breakthrough is possible! Deliverance is possible! Healing is possible! Restoration is possible. Gaining beauty for ashes is possible!
